The Minority does not speak for the Majority in Montrose CO
Commissioner Mijares is the only Commissioner currently serving on the board that was installed into office by a vote of the people.
Download and share. Montrose needs to know the truth.
The recall petitioners were given a list of facts by a partisan group of politiacal hit men/women who primary goal was to deceive the public. The truth is not hard to find. this document cites Colorado Revised Statutes that should provide the evidence you need to disprove all of their false claims. Vote NO to Recall
The recall petition is a public document filed with the Montrose County Clerk.

As a result of this important action the West End of Montrose County has seen a resurgence mining activity.
This potentially sets Montrose County up for increased Mining and Energy production as the Trump Administration prioritizes energy and critical mineral development the on the Homefront. This new direction for our country should produce good paying jobs for Montrose County as these industries develop.
Both Mijares and Pond are fierce defenders of your Constitutional rights. They were outraged at the passing of Senate Bill 2025-003 restricting your 2nd amendment rights. As a result they penned a letter and sent it directly to President Trump asking for intervention. Several Colorado Counties requested our letter and submitted on behalf of their citizens. We have not seen any substantive action yet but are hopeful.
The Basin Clinic in Nucla is the lifeline to emergency healthcare on the West End of Montrose County. Prior to Commissioner Mijares taking office the Clinic had not had an increase in funding for over 15 years. This is despite the increasing taxes collected by the portion of the PSST Fund intended to help fund Rural Clinics. Commissioner Mijares recognized this injustice and proposed an increase in funding that would keep the Basin Clinic funded to serve our citizens on the West End. His proposal passed unanimously.
The devastating fires that swept through Montrose County will soon be a distant memory. However, the recovery phase of the fires will require years of work. Commissioner Mijares has made it a priority to work with our Emergency Manager throughout the firefighting phase and into the recovery. As a result he lead the way in submitting a Disaster Declaration for Montrose County. This Declaration will unlock important State and Federal funding needed to reclaim critical habitat, protect our watersheds. The recovery will require dedicated leadership and coordination with our partners to restore the landscape and our economy affected by the fires. Commissioner Mijares stands ready to fill that role.
This July Commissioners Mijares and Pond voted to approve the hire of David White as interim County Manager. (Commissioner Hansen Objected) Mr. White is a 2 term Montrose County Commissioner. He is a former Mayor of the City of Montrose and has served as a City Councilman in Montrose and Colorado Springs. Mr. White brings critical institutional knowledge to the BOCC.
For nearly 17 years the Montrose Sheriffs Department has been struggling to build and support a strong and well equipped Sheriff's Department. The Public Safety Sales Tax was intended to do just that. Somewhere along the way that objective was never achieved. In recent years the MSCO has been ill equipped to compete with other jurisdictions to attract and retain deputies. The passage of the PSST resolution gives the sheriff greater control and flexibility over his budget to compete in a very competitive marketplace. Public Safety is a #1 priority for Commissioner Mijares. That is why he fully supported Commissioner Ponds resolution to redefine the budgetary structure of the MSCO. Commissioner Ponds resolution passed 2 to 1 with Commissioner Hansen opposing the motion to pass.
Commissioners Scott Mijares and Sean Pond voted to oppose the Gunnison Outdoor Resource Protection Act (GORP), that restrict public land access, threatens our farmers and ranchers, threatens our primary water source, and contradicts Presidential Order #14156 declaring a National Energy Emergency whereby American energy and mineral resources must be used to reduce our dependance on foreign sources.
Shady transactions haunt the Prior BOCC
Board Chair Commissioner Hansen signed a "First Right of Refusal" on 1/26/23 for the sale of the South Campus Property to an out of state developer. This was 23 months before the finalization of the North Campus Project contract on 12/18/24. Seem Shady??
